Keep your scissors sharp
A sharp scissors is safer than a dull one, because the force used to cut is less, the scissors don't slip and the hand doesn't tire as quickly.
Wash scissors separately
Don't just put them in the sink.
It's best to wash them immediately after use under running water and dry them.
Dry them from the back to the blade and from the handle to the tip. Never dry them on the blade side!
Care pays off
Good scissors are an investment. With proper care, you will enjoy your scissors for many years.
Remember that even stainless steel scissors are never 100% stainless steel. Immediately after use, rinse the blade to remove food acids. If stains should appear, they can be easily removed with a standard metal cleaner.
Avoid misuses
Scissors are not a screwdriver or a can openers. The blade can be damaged forever.
Keep scissors visible
Always keep the scissors in a visible place, with the handle pointing towards you and away from the edge of the table to avoid dropping it. Do not cover it with any object to avoid accidentally touching the blade.
If you hand the scissors to another person, always do so by the handle.
Use the appropriate scissors for each purpose
Fish, meat, fabrics, papers are all different in terms of consistency and hardness.
Therefore, there's a suitable scissor for every purpose. Do not use kitchen scissors for other uses and tasks, such as cutting packaging, fabrics or cables.
Cutting away from the body
Always use the scissors away from the body. This will prevent you from injuring yourself if the scissors should slip. Never try to catch the scissors on the fly while they are falling! There is a risk of serious cut injuries.
Keep scissors in a safe place
All scissors should be kept in a safe place and always out of reach of children.
A kitchen scissors block fulfils this dual function perfectly, preventing accidents and keeping the blade protected, but a magnetic rack also provides safety and easy access.
If you use a magnetic rack, make sure that the magnet is strong enough and that the scissors are clean to ensure your safety.
Avoid proximity to heat sources
Refrain from leaving the scissors on the hob or any other heat source in order to avoid damage or burns.
